Action Requested: Monthly K-12 Reporting on Content-based Coaching 11/6/2009 2:25 PM TO: Principals and Building Content Coaches FR: Valeria Silva, Chief Academic Officer Kate Wilcox-Harris, Executive Director, Professional Development RE: Monthly K-12 Reporting on Content-based Coaching Beginning this November, all math and reading/literacy content coaches will be asked to complete a short survey regarding their coaching activities for the month. The purpose of the survey is to let us know what is happening in our schools around job-embedded professional development and content-based coaching. We understand that completing this survey every month is a considerable request but it is important to receive this information on a regular basis; it will provide more accurate information to improve coaching overall and understand what the impact of other responsibilities has on coaches. Near the end of each month the Office of Academics will send each of the content-based coaches an email that will contain a link to an on-line survey. Coaches will have until the 10th of the following month to complete the survey. The survey does not ask coaches to identify their school or provide their name so their responses will be anonymous. The Center for Professional Development will aggregate the data each month so it can be used to inform upcoming professional development and planning. It will also fulfill our requirement to effectively monitor the use of ARRA funds supporting job - embedded professional development and content focused coaching. The analysis will be available for teachers, coaches, executive directors and principals as well.
